Confident Beginner Sewing – Baby Romper in Stretch Fabric

A romper is one of the most versatile, adorable, and wearable pieces you can sew for your baby. Perfect for playtime, special occasions, or everyday adventures.
In this Confident Beginner Sewing class, you’ll learn everything there is to know about sewing with Stretch Fabric and take your sewing to the next level by creating a lined, all-in-one romper. You’ll work with stretch fabric and learn professional techniques to make a high-quality piece your little one can wear with pride (and look absolutely adorable in).
What you’ll learn:
How to choose and use the right stitches for stretch fabrics
Understanding grainline, stretch direction, cutting on the fold, and cutting in pairs
Mastering seam allowances and sewing on the round for cuffs
How to line a romper bodice for a neat and comfortable finish
How to construct an all-in-one garment from start to finish
Using a KAM snap press to securely fasten the straps
Plus plenty of tips to help you create wearable, long-lasting clothing
You’ll work from my This Mummy Sews romper pattern and follow each step to cut, construct, and finish your own 'Mummy-made' romper, all on a standard sewing machine.

What to bring:
Fabric: 1m Stretch cotton jersey (fabric avalable to order on booking 1m of fabric will make a romper up to size 2-3yrs. The romper pattern starts from 0-3m up to age 5-6yrs.
Basic sewing kit: Fabric scissors, pins or clips, and snips (starter kits available to order when booking)
Baby-friendly, Mummy-friendly:
Bring your baby along if they’re not yet toddling. This Mummy Sews HQ is set up with space for prams, car seats, bouncers, and a safe playpen.
Changing facilities are on-site too.

🧵 Equipement needed: You will need to bring 1m of stretch cotton jersey fabric and a basic sewing kit. (*You can purchase these when booking this class if you dont have them already and let me take care of everything.)

If you are ordering 1m of fabric for this class there is a large selection of stretch cotton jersey fabrics at HQ. You can select any deisgn you like when you arrive at class. Fabric is priced at £12pm.
Starter kit contains:
Fabric scissors, thread snips, pins, pin cushion, 10 x fabric clips, retractable tape measure, tailor chalk, white thread, black thread, large safety pin. Starter kits are an additoinal £25.
